The flags the country quizzes skip: states, provinces and regions from 18 countries, dependent and disputed territories, former countries and international organizations. For players who already know all the national flags. If you've done a state or territory flags quiz on Sporcle or JetPunk, it's the same format. (Geographys isn't affiliated with Sporcle or JetPunk.)

How it works

  1. 1One flag is shown at a time. Type the place it belongs to.
  2. 2Use the arrows or tap a thumbnail to skip to a different one. Nothing is lost by skipping around.
  3. 3In some sets, naming just the country the place is in earns a partial point.
  4. 4Name as many as you can before the clock runs out.

Tips

  • Learn each set's patterns. Many regional flags reuse their country's colours or a shared coat of arms.
  • Name the country if you're stuck. In some sets, that earns a partial point.
  • Skip around. There's no penalty, and others often jog your memory.

Questions

What's in it?
States, provinces and regions from 18 countries, from U.S. states and Japanese prefectures to Swiss cantons and Argentine provinces, plus dependent and disputed territories, former countries and international organisations.

Yes, a quick mix from across the sets. The sets themselves can be played any time.

Flags below the national level

Below the national flags is a whole world of regional ones. Every US state has a flag, many of Japan's prefectures use a simple emblem on a plain field, and Switzerland's cantons fly square flags like the country itself. Many regional flags borrow their country's colours, which is a useful clue when you're stuck.

There are 24 sets, from Ireland's four provinces to 88 former countries like the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and East Germany, plus international organisations like the United Nations, the European Union and NATO.
